SpHOTlight: Posh & Ritzy

Sorry about the delay folks, but as promised here's my interview with the ladies of Posh & Ritzy!  Get to know a little about the forces behind the line, the P&R brand, and check out some pics from their debut show.  Check it out below.

ME: Tell me about the brand in general and its mission?
P&R:Posh & Ritzy represents La'Tryce and Shontielle. Elegant, high-class, and stylish. Our mission is to educate people on not only the effects that non-organic cotton can have on the environment and the people that wear them, but also to inform surrounding communities about the benefits of recycling and being polite to mother nature. We also have a genuine interest in the youth of our community. We are in the process of establishing Green Street. Green Street will be comprised of youth from area high schools who share the same interest in Eco-awareness, entrepreneurship, and fashion.

ME:So, What do you want the world to know about Posh & Ritzy?
P&R:We want the world to know that Posh & Ritzy is not just your normal organic t-shirt line. When creating this brand we wanted to display a line of t-shirts that you wouldn't just wear because they are organic, but pieces that you would invest in for your wardrobe because they are of good quality, stylish, and versatile.

ME:Outside of the t-shirts being made of 100% Organic cotton, how else will you impact the Eco-friendly movement?
P&R:Organic cotton is grown using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment. Organic production systems replenish and maintain soil fertility, reduce the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers, and build biologically diverse agriculture. The toxic pesticides and fertilizers that are used in the production of non-organic cotton can cause cancer as well as circulatory and reproductive issues. We also plan to start campaigns that advocate the importance of recycling and preserving our natural resources.

ME:What do the owners of P&R do in their spare time?
P&R:Shontielle works full time for Whirlpool Corporation as a Sales Development Representative in Phoenix, AZ. She is also currently applying to graduate school with hopes to be accepted into a masters program in either Chicago, IL or New York City, New York. Shontielle enjoys both domestic and international travel.

La'Tryce is currently in cosmetology school. She has been working hard towards obtaining her license so that she can someday open up her own salon. She is also the Marketing Executive for the Lake Michigan Admirals, an ABA team in Benton Harbor, MI.

ME:There was a "Barbie World" theme in the show, what inspired this?
P&R:When creating the brand we wanted to make sure that the women wearing
our t-shirts felt gorgeous! Our designs showcase several different colors and we wanted to dramatically show that our t shirts portray beauty, fun, and excitement.

ME:Where do you see P&R in a year? 5 years?
P&R:In a year we hope to see P&R being sold in department stores worldwide, i.e. Macy's and Dillard's. In 5 years we will have expanded to pieces that represent your entire wardrobe, i.e. jeans, scarves, sweaters, vests, and anything else our consumers would like to see from us. We also hope to open up several boutiques that house not only our brands but others that we have gotten inspiration from.

Thanks ladies for your time, I wish you all the BEST!

To my readers, I hope this interview inspires you as it does me.  The entrepreneurial bug is alive and buzzing within the young African-American community and it gives me great joy to be able to showcase such talent.  There is one thing that all successful business owners have in common and that is taking a chance.  You never know how big an idea and a chance will take you!  Check below for pics from the show.

MEag

Here's ME at the Posh & Ritzy show.  Although this wasn't how I originally planned my outfit, I have to say that I love how it came together.  Initially I planned on rocking this cropped tee with a Grey hi-waisted pencil skirt.  The Grey pencil skirt does wonders for my curves however uncomfortable :(, it's one of a kind!  I assisted with the models backstage and it just didn't allow free range of movement.  It's the type of skirt that you just sit pretty in, if you know what I mean.  Anyway, I fell in LOVE with this tee at first sight, it inspired me (there are absolutely numerous ways to turn the staple of a tee into something fabulous).  When I first took it out the box at F21 my associates hated it.  All the while I'm oblivious and giddy.  Paired with a black spandex mini, black textured stockings, and red suede platform pumps I think its a WINNER!  I accessorized with animal print leather bangles that I scored at a thrift store and this huuuuuuuge pearl ring.  Even if my associates still hate this shirt after I put this together, It doesn't matter because it's something that I felt good in!

Style Tip: Confidence is the best damn accessory that was never invented.  If you feel good then it shows in the most hideous of things!

P.S. I had a great time at the show and even snagged a P&R shirt.  I will post pics of me in my 'elite, luxurious, and swanky' tee soon.  Also stay tuned for pics of the Posh &Ritzy show, I also had the chance to ask the ladies a few questions for the blog! YEAH :)

Black Leather Elbow Length Glove vs. ISOTONER

Tonight I made a quick run to Target to pick up some personal items. No matter what my reason is initially for stopping, I almost always get lost in accessories.  While making this random run I take advantage and decide to do a little Christmas browsing (not shopping).  I immediately notice that the black leather elbow length gloves that I have been pawning over for months are now on clearance! Then I notice that target is carrying a brand that I know we all are familiar with, ISOTONER.  My excitement waives from the leather gloves  and sets eyes on some black driving gloves detailed with the top snap.  Some of you may say black leather elbow length vs. black ISOTONER'S? YES! this is a huge dilemma, especially when I'm supposed to be Christmas shopping (I mean browsing) for others.  For as long as I can remember my mother has owned a pair of ISOTONER'S to match every winter coat.  It was just a few years ago that my mother purchased my first pair, a pair of navy blue classics.  It was also then that I gained an appreciation and undying love for them!  Check them out below or here.

Here is a picture of the elbow length gloves, maybe Santa Baby will bring me both! I'm investing in the ISOTONER'S.  They just give me that warm tingly nostalgic feeling!

STYLE TIP: Gloves can be used for so much more than outerwear! Have fun with them and play with different colors.  Add a pop of mustard yellow, red or teal to a boyfriend blazer or shift dress.  Your interpretation of style should be all of YOU.  iaME.

Posh & Ritzy Fashion Show

You ever just meet someone and know that they will be successful?

I see great things happening for Posh & Ritzy owners, LaTryce Golliday and Shontielle Marsh.  P&R is an eco-friendly clothing line designed in an attempt to fill a void within their community, my community Benton Harbor, Michigan. These two up and coming entrepreneurs are nothing short of POSH & RITZY!

Check the above flyer for event information! I will definitely be in attendance.  Maybe I can sneak in an interview to post on the Blog! ;) hint. hint.

iaME...you... will... see... ME

Hello readers! As some of you may know I am working on a clothing line of specialty made t-shirts. I am also in the process of creating a website (such a tedious task, ugh). Until things are complete I will keep you all updated via blog posts. When the website is complete I will continue to blog on the website. I am extremely new at this so work with me! I can not promise you posts that are free of grammatical and spelling errors, but I promise to get better with time and I can promise that each post will include all of ME.
I originally didn't want to start blogging until I had everything in order, but I decided why not share EVERYTHING!  From start to finish I want you all with me.

Things I have accomplished this week:
The website is about 50% complete
Starting my BLOG :)
Deciding on the Logo

Things I want to accomplish next week:
Website about 75% complete
Update blog design
Network!
Complete 1 t-shirt design

I challenge you to think about what you would like to accomplish and make steps towards those goals! Dream Big, Work Hard!

Happy Monday to you all!
